Neglected gutters

Years of neglect results in "sudden overflows" but are they really sudden or surprising? Not if your gutter system hasn't been touched for years. Not to mention the over time stress they are exposed to. It's akin to neglecting your vehicle's oil needs: engine, door hinges, etc. need oil change, greasing, etc., general maintenance. Though the results are quicker there but often times no more obvious.
