Hail the Property Manager!

Property managers are so underrated. Managing a property or properties - as usually they do - is a massive undertaking and a very stressful job. I know I wouldn't trade places with a property manager even though I deal with properties for a living. Yes, we can clean the windows, clean gutters, treat a roof against moss, pressure wash that underground parking or siding and what have you. But to be on stand by virtually 24/7 deserves a special respect.

Hence I make it a point to minimize the stress coming at a property manager from my side of things. If there is a complaint (or several) which is practically unavoidable, especially in large stratas, we jump on it and handle the heck out of it so there can be no uncertainty that it is handled. And I know property managers appreciate that. They can use less stress and less "emergencies" or simply a shorter "to-do" list on their plate.

And that is where professionalism comes into play. No, we're not perfect, no we're not unerring - do you know any human who is?!? - but when it comes to taking responsibility for any deficiency we are on top of it. We are ready and willing to get back out there and address it to the full satisfaction of all involved because we know that being dependable and reliable is key in reducing stress levels for any property manager. And it makes the strata or residents happy as well, and happiness is important.

As a matter of fact I've learnt from a hiring expert that there is such a thing as "happiness factor" and it is the most important metric when it comes to employees. But I extrapolated this further and expanded it to property maintenance: the happiness factor of our clients, property manager or home owner is equal in importance. Sure, our staff should be happy and we're all for creating a happy work environment. However not many realize that a business is not only its staff - well, many don't even realize that - but all the people it interacts with regularly: the clients and even the regular suppliers. No, we're not clowns or entertainers to "make them laugh" but happiness is more than just that: being satisfied, happy with our services is our goal and it certainly is a great satisfaction for our staff to hear or experience the clients' happiness with their work. Acknowledging a job well done means more to a worker than you might think and we go out of our way to bring the best customer service experience. It is a service we provide: window cleaning, gutter repair, gutter cleaning, etc. but also what and how you experience it. 

When you go in for a car service your experience with the staff will have an effect on you, and it is no different in our industry. That is why a 5 star review is very much appreciated, for example, or a kind word or two if you were happy with out service. And that is only after a great service.
